Teen Nites We are launching efforts to create a special youth education and alternative activities campaign called Teen Nites. We have had great success with our current teen programs and now we need to add the final piece to this circle of success. Teen Nites needs your financial support. Donations will have a direct benefit to those we serve through our Friday Night Live youth program. Please read the enclosed proposal and give generously for the youth in our community. They need us and they need your involvement. The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD in the Silicon Valley) promotes lifestyles free of the need for alcohol, nicotine, and other drugs. We are a nonprofit agency serving Santa Clara County since 1971, an affiliated with NCADD in New York, the oldest national health organization fighting the stigma about alcoholism and other drug abuse. Alcohol and other drug abuse continue to be a serious health problem that affects nearly all sectors of our society, including Silicon Valley companies. The statistics are mind boggling. Over 20% of Americans have problems with alcohol, even though only 5% are alcoholic. Over 40% of industry audits and fatalities result from alcohol and other drug abuse. We already know too much about traffic accidents and fatalities. 43% of US adults (76 million people) have been exposed to alcoholism and other addictions through their families, friends and co-workers. The need is clear.
